General Terms and Conditions
- A deposit equal to the total hunting fee is required on booking. Please note - hunting fees do not include cull,trophy or carcass fees.
- Booking deposits are non-refundable, however British Shooting Services will, at our discretion, return deposits if we are able to sell the hunting dates that have been booked.
- A Professional Hunter accompanies all hunts.
- Firearms details will be provided on booking so that British Shooting Services can obtain a Visitors Firearms Permit for the hunter. A FIREARMS PERMIT, ISSUED IN THE HUNTERS HOME COUNTRY IS REQUIRED ON BOOKING (a copy is acceptable), and a EUROPEAN FIREARMS PASS (The original must be provided). The Visitors Firearms Permit will be sent to the Hunter 21 days prior to booked hunting dates, along with details of the Hunting area and directions to any accommodation booked through British Shooting Services.
- Hunters must have in place a Public Liability Insurance policy, such as those offered by the NGO, BASC, CLA or similar.
- British Shooting Services do not provide travel insurance; we recommend that each Hunter put in place, their own travel insurance.
- Jagdschein is not required in the UK.
- Where practical, Hunters will be offered alternative dates for any hunting cancelled by British Shooting Services, due to / severe weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
- Firearms and ammunition must comply with all UK legal requirements in respect of the species to be taken.
- Shotgun cartridges for wild fowl must be non-toxic.
- All firearms must be in good working order with a fully functional safety and if equipped with optics, be zeroed prior to arrival.
- We reserve the right to require a shooting test prior to hunting.
- Pump action, bolt action or semi-automatic shotguns must have a breach flag showing when not in use.
- Firearms Certificate will be requested for confirmation of conditions allowing the use of firearms for use over land and expanding ammunition (UK RESIDENT HUNTERS).
- Frangible bullets such as V-Max, Blitz Kings, or similar may only be used for vermin. A-Max or any other target rounds are not permitted.
- “Home loads” must meet with UK legal minimum energy requirements. Hunter using “Home loads”, do so at their own risk.
- We reserve the right to terminate any Hunt where it appears be detrimental to the client’s health to continue.
- We reserve the right to send any Hunter home, without refund if safety rules are infringed or inhumane shots are taken.
- British Shooting Services, its’ owners, employees or agents will not be held responsible for any damage, loss or injury, whilst Hunting.
- Hunters will be responsible for any loss, financial or material, suffered by British Shooting Services, its’ owners, employees or agents, caused by the actions or negligence of any Hunter.
- Only Animals or birds described or identified by the Professional Hunter may be shot. Hunters must accept that they may not be allowed to shoot at any animal unless the Professional Hunter is satisfied that the hunter is competent to do so.
- The decision of the British Shooting Services professional Hunter shall be final on any matter concerning Hunting.
- Any animal or bird shot without prior agreement must be paid for in full.
- Carcasses will remain the property of British Shooting Services, but may be purchased.
- Any wounded or lost deer will be charged for at current game dealer rates and, where applicable, any shot or trophy fee. No further hunting will take place until the wounded animal has been located and dispatched.
- Any Hunter who repeatedly misses animals will be required to fire at a target to confirm accuracy.
- Hunters, who take any vehicle off a public highway onto private property, track, field, etc., do so at their own risk.
- The Hunter will securely lock firearms away after each Hunt. Ammunition and Bolt will be placed in the custody of the Professional Hunter.
- Accommodation, hire cars and taxis can be arranged by British Shooting Services. Please ask for further details on booking.
- A trophy preparation service can be provided at £30 per Trophy. If a Full Cape is required, an additional charge of £20 per cape is applicable.
- Payment of any deposits or confirmation of Hunting dates will constitute acceptance of all terms and conditions.
Conditions relating to the use of Estate Rifles
If you would like to book stalking, but do not have your own Firearms Certificate, deer legal rifle or are a foreign guest, we can legally provide firearms to use under Section 16 of the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988, which makes provisions for suitable rifles to be borrowed (or hired) from the owner or occupier of land.
There are legal conditions which apply to the use of an "estate rifle".
1) No person who is a "prohibited person" may use or have in their
possession any firearm.
2) Only persons aged 17 or over may borrow a rifle.
3) The occupier of land or employee must be present at all times.
4) If accompanied by an employee of the owner / occupier, the employee
must hold a Firearms certificate with appropriate conditions for the use of
the rifle and ammunition.
5) Any unused ammunition must remain with the owner / occupier or
employee.
Anyone who wishes to use an "estate rifle" will be required to provide proof of identity and sign a declaration that they are not prohibited by law from using or possessing firearms.

What constitutes a ‘prohibited person’ in terms of possessing firearms?
Persons who are sentenced to a term of imprisonment of three years or more are never allowed to possess firearms or ammunition, and persons who are sentenced to a term of imprisonment for three months or more but less than three years must not possess them until five years have passed since the date of release.
The prohibition extends to all air weapons, air gun pellets and shot gun ammunition.
